Benefits of having a nudge bar installed on your car

Nudge bars are devices that are fitted onto the front of cars to serve a number of purposes dependent on where you are driving your vehicle, rural or urban. People tend to be confused between nudge bars and bull bars. The difference is only in size. A bull bar is bigger than a nudge bar, where a small bull bar is called a nudge bar. A nudge bar does not extend to the full width of your car but still offers protection.

Nudge bars are used mainly for the protection or aesthetic value of the vehicle and also serve as a mounting place for extras like floodlights or auxiliary lights. You can choose to have a high or low bar that depends on your needs. Installing one does not affect your airbags, but you should consider if it is PDC compliant to save you the headache interference with your factory fitted PDC sensors. Here are some benefits of having a nudge bar installed on your car in the correct manner.

Protection in rural areas

The nudge bar offers protection to the bumper, engine, radiator and headlights when a collision occurs with large animals and trees when driving in off-road environments. It is important to note that this benefit is for when you are driving in rural areas and not in urban areas. In urban areas, having a very rigid nudge bar and one that is not fitted correctly may bring harm to other road users during a collision. The law requires that the bar is mounted in such a manner that the safety of your car is not affected and also in such a manner that it does not constitute a danger to the other road users.

Nudge bars also come with provisions where you can attach a winch to tow your vehicle safely. This protects it from damage that occurs when a winch has to be attached to your vehicle's frame, which is not that strong.

In muddy and foggy areas, nudge bars have drilled holes that provide a place to attach auxiliary lights to allow you to see better.

Aesthetic Value in Urban areas

Nudge bars are also attached in vehicles located in urban areas for uses leaning more towards aesthetic than functional. The main purpose here is to make your car appear stronger thus make other motorists stay clear of your car. Caution should be taken here though to check requirements by the law so as to make sure safety is guaranteed for all.
